Urushi Lacquer
Urushi lacquer is a natural material. Please handle with care to preserve its beauty for years to come.

· Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
· Avoid direct sunlight, high humidity, and sudden changes in temperature.
· Keep away from chemicals, alcohol, and perfume.
· Not dishwasher or microwave safe.
· For long-term storage, wrap individually in soft cloth or Washi paper.
· With use over time, Urushi develops a deeper lustre — a quality unique to this living material.

Story

Seiko Yoshimura trained in lacquerware technique in her hometown of Kyoto. After her first solo exhibition in 2015, she committed fully to the creation of Urushi jewelry, exhibiting in solo and group shows since.

The moment she first encountered lacquer — something so unfamiliar to her daily life — left a permanent impression. She works with that original sense of wonder still present, finding patience in the material's unpredictability. Urushi, she says, is like an unpredictable lover.

That difficulty is part of what she loves about it.
